books-thumb.jpgSusan Brauning is the Literacy Instructor for the NEWCorp Academic Program at the Albuquerque Job Corps Center.  Sue's primary responsibilities are to teach the Scholastic 180 curriculum in the literacy classroom. She teaches a variety of students with and without high school diplomas or GEDs, and helps prepare them to achieve grade level gains and/or growth on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) test. When their literacy goals are met, they may either enroll in SIATech classes, GED prep, or explore both options simultaneously. Sue began working with the program in August 2007. Prior to NEWCorp, Sue worked for six years teaching third and fourth grades within Albuquerque Public Schools. She earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has a Level II, K-8 New Mexico Educators license with endorsements in Physical Education and Visual Art.  In her free time, Sue enjoys gardening, playing tennis, and visiting her children and grandchildren.
