New Education for the Workplace (NEWCorp) is a nonprofit corporation that promotes education by providing educational management and professional development services.
MISSION
The mission of NEWCorp is to advance the vocational and technical education and training of young men and women. NEWCorp guides, directs, manages, operates, and promotes charter schools.
VISION
NEWCorp’s vision is that all young people can have access to quality technical education in order to become functioning contributors within their communities. To ensure quality education, NEWCorp emphasizes innovative classroom environments, professional development for all staff, and the development of strategic partnerships.
NEWCorp and the Job Corps New Vision
NEWCorp supports the New Vision of
Job Corps by promoting a climate of success in a technologically rich, positive
educational environment. The new Job Corps experience will serve as a bridge to
high-growth industry careers for students. NEWCorp strives to ensure program graduates hold credentials and certificates that represent their mastery of
standards-based curriculum in both academics and career technical training so that they are prepared for careers in today's knowledge worker-age. NEWCorp emphasizes rigor, relevance, and positive relationships. NEWCorp is committed to hiring and
supporting a certified staff that will have the opportunity to teach and learn
in an environment of respect, recognition, and professional growth. NEWCorp programs and trades endeavor to be certified according to industry standards. NEWCorp seeks to offer programs in new fields
that support economic demand in high-growth industries such as (but not limited to) Health
Occupations, Construction and Manufacturing, and Business Technologies.
NEWCorp and SIATech
NEWCorp has ten years of successful experience supporting
accredited SIATech high schools at 14 Job Corps centers nationwide. Over
7,500 Job Corps students have graduated from SIATech programs with a high school
diploma in the past decade.
NEWCorp and Professional Development
NEWCorp offers a research-based professional
development program that is second to none. Inspired by the work of Ron Edmonds
and Robert Marzano (Effective Schools)
Peter Senge (The Fifth Discipline),
Stephen Covey (7 Habits of Highly
Effective People), Reuven Feuerstein (Mediated
Learning), and Michael Fullan (Learning
Communities), we are committed to
providing ongoing training and professional development opportunities for
staff. Trainings will include Covey’s “7
Habits of Highly Effective People”, Focus Training for Time Management,
Classroom Management, Teaching Strategies for diverse populations, Mediated
Learning for Special Needs Populations, applied academics, and Leadership
Training. Teaching strategies and
induction are based on the National Professional Teaching Standards (NPTS) and
are part of a comprehensive, state certified teacher training program developed
by SIATech and in use at all SIATech sites.
